Peachy, it looks like it's a partial collapse--if that makes a difference--I have absolutely no idea. It's looks to be part of the lower left lobe of the left lung.

They might be loading him up on antibiotics to prevent an infection of the heart. Any invasive procedure, including dental work, can result in pathogens in the bloodstream which can infect the heart. I used to have a heart murmur, and my dentist would not do dental work until I had a note from the doctor that I was o.k. for that.
