"Well, we'll just put you down under the column 'Unable to Comprehend Change.'"

But what's "changed" about Bill Klintoon?

Sickness will humble most men.

Has he been repentant about ANY of his 1001 misdeeds?

I must have missed that.

"He [Clinton] just backed President Bush's foreign policy 100%, which is something Kerry STILL cannot bring himself to do."

Yes.

And remember WHO is running as a Democratic Presidential nominee in '08 (Hint: Hillary).

NOTHING the Clintons do is sincere -- only calculated.

"How and why are people on this board forgetting all this and the avalanche of evidence proving his evil?"

1. Some are truly Christians;
2. Some seem to think you're suppose to automatically care about the ill;
3. Some are putting on an act for another bulletin board;
4. Some are just hypocrites;
5. Some are truly naive about the massive corruption surrounding slick.

And apparently some seem to think he has changed. I won't believe it until he gets down on his knees and begs America's forgiveness. Saying "you first" hardly makes up for the damage he did for 8 long years.

By my calculation, it was at about 4.9% ;-)

I've been reading so much that's incorrect - congestive heart failure and other erroneous suppositions- that I'm leaping in here, while what I'm about to write may have been written. If so, I apologize.

Scar tissue on the Pericardium following open-heart surgery is not uncommon.

Fluid build-up in the Pericardial sac is exactly what put me in the Hospital in Sept. 04. It was decided in my case to be a "viral heart infection" that caused the build-up of fluid in the Pericardium, and put pressure on my heart that threw me into atrial fibrillation, and collapsed part of my lower left lung. I have never had heart surgery or heart disease - both of which usually precedes this condition. That's why the "viral" was significant in my case - a way of explaining why I had this condition at all!

I was conscious when the Cardiothorasic surgeon put a needle through a small incision and withdrew the fluid. In fact, I watched the whole procedure on the same screen that Surgeon was using.

Diurectics did the rest - removing any remaining fluid, especially that in my lungs.

I don't know about x42's prognosis but mine was/is excellent.

What I wasn't prepared for was how tired I felt for months following my Hospitalization. I was absolutly wiped out for weeks. But then, maybe the virus I had, had something to do with that. Maybe that's why Clinton is going to be staying in the Hospital for 3-10 days. I'm sure they want to monitor his heart before discharging him.

Another thing. Following open-heart surgery such as Clinton had, and the length of time he was on a heart-lung machine is known to have long-term after-effects. The bubbles introduced into the blood are known to cause short term memory loss, some loss of long-term memory and 5-years following the surgery, some 85% of open-heart patients experience some form of depression along with other conditions.

More and more Cardiothoracic surgeons are investigating less invasive techniques to repair a heart other than the open-heart procedures, just because of the long term after-effects.

While we have a lot of fun here on FR with slamming the NY Times, they have had some very interesting and educational articles on open-heart surgery in the past several months.

Just thought I'd chime in with my two cents on this medical procedure.

I think you covered the poster profile nicely, NV.

"And apparently some seem to think he has changed. I won't believe it until he gets down on his knees and begs America's forgiveness. Saying 'you first' hardly makes up for the damage he did for 8 long years."

And then again, I had no idea that etiquette was more important than actual repentance at FR.

Should we should put down our Bibles, and start reading 'Emily Post'?

Can you not tell that I was half-joking, for goodness sakes?

I am neither naive nor have I forgotten the damage he did to the country and to political discourse. Perhaps he has looked back on his legacy and is feeling guilty. Confronting death does that to some people, you know.

At any rate, he seems to be more conciliatory towards the Bush family than he was in 2000, when he called Bush a frat boy running on his daddy's money. Dad Bush was so mad he threatened to say something at the convention.

The way I look at it, if the Bush family can deal with him, I am not going to rant about him.

Either I am right, and he has changed, or I am wrong, and we will soon see evidence of his old self.

well, that is my term for it. They told me that they would put a cloth over my face and insert the chest tube and I said....No you won't! Three officers I worked with also had a spontaneous collapsed lung and they all had to have chest tubes.

Now it sounds like Clinton has a partial pnuemothorax (partial lung collapse) It happened to me three times but since they were partial, and I refused the chest tube, I was given bed rest...you have to be propped up cause it is too painful to lay down. His plane trip might have helped cause the collasped lung

"We are speculating here; another word you have no knowledge of, apparently."

I DO have knowledge of the concept of "reality" -- a word that you apparently are totally disengaged from.

And stay away from 'Emily Post' -- she's a FOB.

If they are waiting until Thursday, then it can't be that serious, right?

They are probably giving him diuretics, hoping that they will pull the fluid out from around the heart and from the lungs.

It is the fluid in the Pericardial sac that has put pressure on his heart, and possibly collapsed the lower left portion of his left lung. As soon as the fluid is gone, the lung will re-inflate.

Having had a similar condition, I don't understand at all why they are waiting - especially since Clinton is going to be playing 18 holes of golf tomorrow, to raise money for th tsunami victims. Maybe he has requested them to wait?

Not good, to my mind. Any fluid that is putting that much pressure on the lung can also put pressure on the heart. In my case, it put enough pressure on my heart to throw me into atrial fibrillation - I literally couldn't breathe, and my brain wasn't getting enough oxygen.

For someone who's already been through open-heart surgery, (Clinton) to wait days before doing this procedure which basically uses a needle to withdraw the fluid (not surgery where they open him up) I don't understand the delay. I think Clinton is taking a risk here - one that I wouldn't take, now that I know what I know about this condition. It must not be that much fluid - but then again, how could the lower left lung be collapsed if there's not "that much" fluid? Something doesn't jive here.

I hope Bill Clinton gets good medical care and recovers swiftly. We need him out there saying how great Iran is and making Democrats look bad.
