Koran scholar: US will cease to exist in 2007

The linked article appearing in yesterday's Jerusalem Post posits that references in the Koran that God will destroy the wicked using earthquakes and tidal waves. The author believes that this refers to the Great Satan , the USA.

I'm not always really well informed, but it strikes me that most of the major earthquakes and tidal waves are happening in Muslim countries, and killing believers of Islam...

Hmmmm....

In the long term, this is not abnormal. Some have considered this an 'aftershock' to the Dec 26 quake further north. I wouldn't go that far, but it is most likely due to the Dec 26 quake. This is an active plate boundary and the Dec 26 quake probably stressed the southern portion eventually leading to yesterday's event. If you followed the promulgation of the Dec 26 quake, you'd see that the aftershocks moved north-northwest along the plate boundary, but very few to the south-southeast. Yesterday's quake was also very limited in its promulgation, which may be why there were no significant tsunamis.
