I haven't read back to catch up on the thread yet. Is this info just coming out? I would say this is a significant development. I hope the feds are following this angle.

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Law enforcement officials said on Monday they are looking for a man seen taking pictures of two refineries in Texas City, Texas....

I completely forgot about that incident. Good work back tracking this story.

You are probably correct on the refinery explosion Ex. I've heard that they've not had a stellar safety record.

I just find it strange that one person logs out before the explosion and now cannot be found.

Sabotage of some sort maybe? Who knows.

A little more on the Army of the Levant...

Group Vows Attacks on Churches After Qatar Bombing

Tuesday, March 22, 2005

DOHA (Reuters) - An unknown group has claimed responsibility for a Qatar suicide bombing that killed a Briton, and vowed to hit churches and "crusader" military bases in the region, an Internet statement posted on Tuesday said.

"We claim responsibility for the historic Qatar operation, carried out by a lion of the Army of the Levant," the statement posted on a Web site used by Islamists said.

Addressing what it called "the supporters of the devil," the group warned "America, Britain and Italy and all those who have defiled the lands of Islam be ready for the grand surprise."

"The Qatar operation is the beginning," it added.

The authenticity of the statement could not be confirmed.

Sources in Doha have said the bomber, named as Omar Ahmad Abdullah Ali, was employed at the IT department in state-run Qatar Petroleum which runs Qatar's rich oil and gas sectors.

What's also strange is that almost all those who died worked for contract firms, with eleven of the fifteen who died working for Jacobs Engineering, or its JE Merit Constructors Subsidiary, and three of those who died worked for Fluor Corporation.

The Fluor Corporation has at least a financial connection to the bin Laden family.

Even if it was a terror strike, don't you think it strange that these very expert bomb makers only managed to take out 15?

Maybe this particular incident wasn't as much about the death toll as it was about taking out an oil refinery. At this point, I think they'll settle for a hit on our economy.

UCD death blamed on cyanide

The death of a UC Davis student in January, whose body was found on the lawn near the campus law school, has been determined to have been from cyanide.
As a result, the cause of death for Naum Jeffrey Phleger, 26, a biophysics graduate student from San Francisco, has been declared a suicide by the Yolo County Coroner's Office.

It's absolutely amazing what one can find out on TM! Thanks for that info penguino. This may not have been a terrorist attack and it'll probably be ruled an 'accident', but something about this incident doesn't seem right.

We have a missing person, a bin Laden financial tie in, and some terrorists claiming responsibility. I'd dismissed the terrorists claiming responsibility until the bin Laden info came to light. Now I'm not so sure.

I cannot dispute ExSoldier's point that the terrorists need something big to top 911, but I don't think all these 'accidents' are accidents. Just my opinion.

>> I think they'll settle for a hit on our economy <<

I think a major hit on the economy is a huge part of their plan ffnj. Ask yourself, what do they want more: dead infidels or infidels out of the ME. If they can smash our economic power they could get us out of the ME.

I know they want both, but what would they like to go after first? Of course it's kind of a mute point. These vermin are opportunistic and will take out any target that presents itself.

Exactly. In the article they are boasting that in spite of the tight security, they were able to pull it off. Of course , the authorities are already saying it's not terror related. How do they come to this conclusion after less than a 48 hour investigation? As Cindy pointed out, there was an alert several months ago about middle eastern men taking pictures of refineries.

Dad's Toyota Car Bombed On Long Island

UPDATED: 11:29 am EST March 25, 2005

VALLEY STREAM, N.Y. -- Someone car bombed the Toyota Corolla of Soodash Sackichand, a 38-year-old systems engineer for a financial company, in Valley Stream, police said.

Neighbors on Rushfield Lane were startled by the blast at 1:35 a.m. Thursday. Sackichand, his wife and two children were in the house at the time.

No one was injured, but police are investigating why anyone would want to plant a bomb in his car.

Police said the couple are going through a divorce, but they didn't know if the explosion was related to that.

Barge Mishap Spills Fuel Into Arthur Kill, Raritan Bay

UPDATED: 12:04 pm EST March 25, 2005

WOODBRIDGE, N.J. -- Authorities on Friday were trying to determine how much diesel fuel spilled from a barge that struck an underwater object on a pier in the township's Sewaren section.

The Coldspring Harbor, laden with nearly a million gallons of No. 2 diesel fuel, was leaving a pier at the Motiva Sewaren facility at about 7:55 p.m. Thursday when it struck an underwater object, puncturing the vessel below the water line, the U.S. Coast Guard said......

Very good point. When they rule out terrorism that fast, it confirms it was a terrorist incident for me.

>> As Cindy pointed out, there was an alert several months ago about middle eastern men taking pictures of refineries. <<

IIRC, one the guards who stumbled upon one of these 'recon ops' was shot and killed. I'm going to look for the link now.
