--- Activist: Assault on Christians Exposes Homosexual Movements Violent Heart By Allie Martin March 4, 2005
Police in one Wisconsin city are being asked to look into the alleged assault of two Christians who claim they were attacked while sharing a biblical message about homosexuality.
Earlier this week, two member of Wisconsin Christians United (WCU) were in Burlington distributing a brochure titled "Homosexuality: The Truth." After leaving literature at homes throughout the city, the pair stood on a busy street, holding signs which read "Homosexuality is Sin" and "Christ Can Set You Free."
After a short time, a car with two individuals stopped near the picketers. According to eyewitnesses, one of the car's occupants approached the picketers yelling obscenities. Then the man allegedly began assaulting the Christians. Ralph Ovadal, director of WCU, says this is not the first time his group has seen what he calls "this very, very violent heart of the homosexual movement." Despite the ugliness of that exhibition, he feels there is a certain benefit to be gained from such confrontations.
"There's an awful lot of people that are deceiving themselves," Ovadal says, "thinking [that] on this particular issue we can strike a happy balance, and we can coexist with both sides in this thing, and we can all be happy and just get on with life -- and it's just not true."
According to the Wisconsin pro-family leader, such intolerant reactions to Christian expressions are common. "We hear it over and over and over," he says, "that our speech is not legitimate, it incites, it's something that's violent in and of itself, and, if we insist on continuing to preach what we preach. we should be put in jail."
Still, Ovadal says, in many such confrontations, the Christians have encountered fair-minded and dutiful law-enforcement officials. "I will say this -- in Burlington, as in so many other places, we met some very good police officers ... some very godly police officers out there, and they did their job," he notes. "They were upset by what happened, and we're hoping that their eyes were opened as well to what's going on in our culture."
A suspect has been arrested in connection with the Burlington assault, and Ovadal says police are investigating the altercation. Despite that incident, the WCU leader says members of his group will soon be back in Burlington, handing out more literature.

WCU is preaching the basic gospel message! First they tell a sinner he or she is sinning, then tell them that they can be saved through Jesus Christ.
When a person is confronted with their sin, the sinner within them will react defensively, but Christians shouldn't stop confronting sin just because it makes another person uncomfortable. That uncomfortableness is what drives a sinner to Christ!
In 15 years of political involvement, the only death threats I have ever received have been from homosexual activists.
With most of them, it does exactly the opposite. I don't think everyone is called to go around confronting people about their sins. Better we confront our own sins and let heaven't designated representatives deal with them. Now I don't care to get into an argument about just who those designated representatives might be.
Some priests and mainline protestants approach the issue with great delicacy. Not so with some fundamentalist sects who go overboard imo. Having little kids hold up signs that say "God hates fags", is not a cool thing to do. I abhor it.
I wouldn't call that casting pearls before swine, I'd call that witnessing.
Pearls before swine? In this? I cant think of any analogy to describe it, maybe sticking around once told to get lost, that would be casting pearls before swine, once they started an argument, for you or me to keep trying to convince them they are sinners, that way you end up trying to win an argument instead of win a soul.
They shouldn't be pressing their agenda in any schools. It should be neutral ground. I don't think trying to teach kids at the junior high and above level to be tolerant of gays is necessarily a bad thing so long as they don't cross the line and recruit and abuse.
Elementary school kids shouldn't be exposed to it; they can't comprehend sexual matters.
Well, being someone who has been assaulted while just standing still, and seeing what the papers said about it, I take this quite seriously, and I believe the Christians.
For those men to::
STOP THEIR CAR
START AN ARGUMENT
PHYSICALLY TOUCH WHILE ANGRY
that clearly defines breach of peace to start, assault, and, the use of profanity in public is a crime, too, breach of peace.
You haven't been to too many Freeps, have you? :)
If you dont tell a person what sin is, how will they know they need to repent?
All they will see is the Christian who acts nice and gets along with everybody...only they wont see their need of a Saviour.
I suppose it depends on the school. I don't think much of that goes on where I live or in the south until the kids get to junior or senior high.
I try not to tell anyone anyhing unless I'm asked. Whatever answer I come up with is really my own opinion.
Did God call you to play John the Baptist?
LOL...
I we are waiting for the hate crime charges......
It's going to be rough going. I didn't have to deal with it growing up, but I would try to treat all children alike. I've had my kids in sleepovers in heterosexual homes when they might have been better off going to a sleepover in *some* gay homes.
Like I mean some heterosexual fathers like to expose themselves to sleeping teenage girls.
Unless the Christians' signs are "fighting words." How would you react to committed Moslems haranging people and carrying signs reading "Your women dress like whores?"
Personally, I'm in favor of martyring the occasional obstreporous Christian; adversity improves the breed and the survivors will be able to feel much more self-righteous.
If you are witnessing for Christ, you will suffer. PERIOD

PS: It happened to me today on another thread. I kinda liked it because the fact that it happened told me I was preaching The word in true form, not the watered down bunk coming out of the main line churchs.
