The parents of the 9-year-old child said the youngster was born with the body of a girl, but the brain of a boy.

What the heck does this mean?

There a few cases of boys raised as girls after surgical accidents when they were babies, but I don't think this falls into that category.

It doesn't say she was a hermaphrodite, it says she was born with the body OF A GIRL/ and is biologically a girl as well.
