A judge released the DCF document seeking intervention in the Terri Schiavo case. She's the brain-damaged woman at the center of a "right to die" battle.
The department of children and families document names Michael Schiavo as responsible for the mistreatment of his wife. The nine complaints cited are very technical. They essentially claim the abuse or neglect of Terri is in the form of the kind of medical treatment Terri is, or in some cases is not receiving.
The complaint accuses Michael Schiavo of: 1. Failure to educate using certain therapies in violation of guardianship 2. Experimental procedures performed without proper medical and legal procedures observed. 3. Lack of manipulation of the ward's (Terris) arms causing severe contractures
Circuit judge George Greer says he will make the document available to the public tomorrow. Greer ordered Terri Schiavo's feeding tube be removed March 18th.
Really?
Bill No. HB 2131
Amendment No. 01 (for drafter's use only)
The Committee on Judiciary offered the following:
12
13 Amendment (with title amendment)
14 Remove from the bill: Everything after the enacting clause
15
16 and insert in lieu thereof:
17 Section 1. End-of-life care.--
18 (1)(a) The Legislature finds that Florida, as the
19 fourth most populous state, is highly diverse with regard to
20 race, ethnicity, urban and rural locales, religious practices,
21 and cultural traditions. Florida has the largest percentage of
22 elderly residents, the third largest incidence of AIDS, and
23 the fourth highest death rates from heart disease and chronic
24 obstructive pulmonary disease in the nation.
You can lie to yourself all you want, don't lie to me.

14 (9) "Life-prolonging procedure" means any medical
15 procedure, treatment, or intervention, including artificially
16 provided sustenance and hydration, which sustains, restores,
17 or supplants a spontaneous vital function.

4 (11) "Persistent vegetative state" means a permanent
5 and irreversible condition of unconsciousness in which there
6 is:
7 (a) The absence of voluntary action or cognitive
8 behavior of any kind.
9 (b) An inability to communicate or interact
10 purposefully with the environment.
" or supplants a spontaneous vital function."
Funny, a PACEMAKER would fit that definition.
What is your definition of euthanasia?
There is nothing remotely resembling a living will.
if the state wants to interfere with private matters.
According to your 'logic', the state would have no compelling interest in investigating spousal abuse, either, because that is a private matter.
Abortion started the same way. We were told it was about incest. Rape. The life of the mother. Women dying having "back alley" abortions. We were told it would NEVER be a form of birth control. Really? Now it's about "choice". "You DON'T have to "suffer" an unwanted pregnancy". And it's still murder dressed in fancy clothes.
This is about euthanasia. And it started in Florida where there are LOTS of seniors. And it's a pig in a fancy gown.
If they can equate a feeding tube with a ventilator, what else will they equate with it?
A colostomy bag?
A pacemaker?
Prosthetic appendages?
A wheelchair?
They claim this is about 'suffering', but where will it end?
Someone somewhere will see any of the above mentioned items as being a sign of the user 'suffering'.
This is a slippery slope, and rolling over and letting this issue drop isn't an option.
Last time some group decided to show 'compassion' by 'mercy killings' it ended with millions dead and a global war that didn't really end until two cities had atomic bombs dropped on them.
This most definitely IS about euthanasia.
It sounds from the early reports that the state agency documents paint Michael R. Schiavo in the role of villain. If so, why did his friend George W. "Haman" Greer release them? Something is not making sense. Hopefully, Greer's law of unintended consequences will yet extend to him the rope that hanged the original Haman.
No one has heard anything yet. A hearing started at 3pm. We're all anxious for news.
This waiting is excruciating -- how do Terri's poor parents stand it?!
Also, ten motions by the Schindlers will be heard this coming MONDAY.
Do I understand correctly: there will be no news today on the motion for a 60 day stay?
They are truly held in the arms of God. There's no other explanation.
Apparently but there is some news.
PRESS RELEASE
17 EXPERTS IN MEDICAL FIELD FILE AFFIDAVITS URGING THAT TERRI BE EVALUATED
March 5, 2005
http://www.terrisfight.org/press/030405medaff.html
Attorneys for Bob and Mary Schindler have filed 17 affidavits in support of their motion asking Judge Greer to let medical evaluations be performed on Terri in light of recent advances in medical technologies. The affidavits are from various experts in the medical field. They are urging that Terri be evaluated based on the fact that new evaluation and therapeutic technologies can significantly impact brain damaged and disabled persons. Many of them have stated that there is strong likelihood that Terri is in a minimally conscious state.
More affidavits are expected to be filed next week in support of the Schindler's motion.
I ended up divorcing her and getting custody of my 3 young sons who were 4, 6, 8.
YOU divorced her is just what we want Michael to do to Terri...You did not have the courts sanction her murder...A bit different and I am very sorry about your wife but you did the best and most humane thing for your wife, children and you...We just want Terri to have the same chance that you gave your wife
This was a typical liberal reaction. They say to pro lifers "Are you going to adopt these children- put your money where your mouth is!" .
Excuse me !!!! I am not a liberal !!!!!! I also have 2 adopted sons who are men now and I thank God for them everyday as I could not have children....I wish I could adopt some more but too old and they would not let me....
I'm not the one who portrayed her as a burden. And, again, regardless of who was the decision-maker back then it does not affect the obligations and burdens of care. Keep in mind that back then it was a family effort as well.
So you are saying Terri is too much of a burden so lets just murder her ?????
I said nothing of the sort.
