In the last segment of Brit's "All Star" panel today, when discussing some politicians' move to allow convicted felons the right to vote, Mara Liasson makes the unsubstantiated statement (she cites no source) that those politicians (Hillary) are going after black voters because 70% of felons are black. Brit made several attempts to gently coax her into rephrasing that, which she doesn't and continues talking. Huh?
so....70% of felons are.........what ?
If brains were dynamite, between Juan and Mara, you couldn't blow the wings off a fly with their combined payload.
But I think she is correct (or about so of the numbers) and of Hillary's not so blind motives of whom she really is courting. Perhaps ill phrased. But no reason to jump on her.
I don't know what 70% of felons are: black, white, other? But she cites no source, and when Brit makes several attempts to get her to change her statement, that says something. To me anyway.

She always gets a look on her face like even she doesn't believe what she's saying.
Mara is my favorite liberal. I give her lots of credit for speaking her mind, even when it goes aginst the party line. I do not know, but if the number of Blacks incarcerated is 70% of the criminal population, she should be able to make the assertion that based on demographics, approximately 89% of them will be voting straight Dems. If she called it as it is, is that really racially insensitive or just some folks being just a little too mushy.
This article states 13% of African American Males are convicted felons.

Imagine what the media would do, if Ann Coulter had made the same remark during a Fox panel discussion!
They just replayed the program and Mara said 85% to 90% of felons are black.
My bad, she said the "vast majority" of felons are African Americans. Not that it makes her argument any more (or less) substantiated.
Well clearly the felon vote, whatever its racial composition, would go heavily for the Dems. Therefore the GOP would be crazy to pass a law that forces states to give back the right to vote to felons.
Leave it to the states, otherwise Hillary can count on a significant boost in 4 yrs.

Mara strikes me as your typical 'Suburban Lib', never having to live with or face the reality of her philosophies. Bet her views would change if she or her family had to endure what many less sheltered deal with every day. In other words, she's a typical Lib.
