ChildOfThe60s, my conversation with Badray is whether or not I am the dreaded RINO, because I believe in a woman's choice in the first trimester. It seems my stance on this issue makes me a "Republican in Name Only" by many freepers (extreme IMO) I've come across.

Oh, I did pick upon that. It's just that it gripes me to no end that any conservative should feel the need to state he has gay friends. It's like "I have Jewish friends" or "I have black friends".
I told my [gay] brother when he voted for BC, that conservatives will stand up for the constitutional rights of *everyone*, but will not pander to the gay lobby. Whereas BC would promise them everything and screw them whenever it suited his needs - which he did, and the DemocRats always do.
I have moral and practical reservations RE 1st trimester abortions; however, I also realize one cannot put the toothpaste back in the tube. I don't agree that your thoughts on it "disqualify" you from conservative status.
I do take issue with calling it a woman's right to choose. She may carry & bear the child, but it is not a possession owned by her. Nor is it the immaculate conception (hint, hint :)

I had a [very] good time, too. But for me it was the recreational side of my life, never a statement of political philosophy. I have always been a conservative, even when seriously stoned. I never seemed to be able to get on the Free Love bus, though....it was always gone when I got to the bus station ;-)
For a minute there I though that you might be my sister until you mentioned in a later post that 'dad' ran for congress. The only thing that our dad ran for was the bus and the bar. ;-)
No, I wouldn't say that you are a RINO, but I am puzzled by the pro abort stance in the first trimester. That is between you and God. I disagree totally with you on that issue. I don't believe that you have the right to kill a baby -- with this exception only. If the mother's life is endangered, not inconvenienced, but in danger of dying or facing serious physical impairment. At that point the mother's life takes precedence.
Since this issue is usually so personal, I understand if you would not want to debate it. FReepmail if you choose or we can leave it right here.
