In 1976, Berry became chancellor of the University of Colorado, the first African American woman to hold that post at a major research university. (Till 1980, I think!)

Was Asst. Secretary of HEW a part-time job? Because in looking around to verify this, I'm finding that Berry was in that role under Carter from 77-80. But 76-77 would seem to be an awfully short time to be chancellor of CU Boulder.
