members of gay rights groups have criticized the disclosure as premature and unnecessarily alarmist, but there is little doubt that the strain of H.I.V. was resistant to three of the four licensed classes of antiretroviral drugs used to combat the AIDS virus.

Rather than dealing with their death-dealing homosexuality and their rampant, promiscuous behavior, they have decided to attack the messenger.

This media ploy apparently will not be supported.

Can you imagine having poisoned water and the government choosing to hide the fact because they didn't want to be "alarmist?"

IMHO, AIDS and HIV are God's way of saying, "Don't do that!"

I wonder what part of this they don't understand?

Some scientists and members of gay rights groups have criticized the disclosure as premature and unnecessarily alarmist, but there is little doubt that the strain of H.I.V. was resistant to three of the four licensed classes of antiretroviral drugs used to combat the AIDS virus.

In the early 1980's, gay-rights NGO's hit the panic button over public-health efforts to track and identify HIV carriers and warn the public, citing "privacy concerns", et cetera.

Here they are again, confronted by a more virulent strain, fighting the only measures likely to protect members of the gay community from contracting the disease -- to-wit, warning them about this new strain and its carriers.

These guys must have a death wish.
