You know a RN that works 3 days a week? Most I have met work 6!
Seriously though, if you getting a degree in social sciences, you either better be planning on teaching or becoming a social worker. Same with most art majors.
The exception is a friend of mine. He wanted to be a graphic artist, and approached his classes like I approached my engineering ones. He has done rather well for himself.

I work 3 12's- cardiac critical care. Best move I ever made. I was laid off in the 80's from a tech job. I took the severance and went back to school. Figured we would never run out of sick people. Plenty of time for family and a small side business.
3 days a week, 12 hours a day, $39 an hour. She takes 4 weeks off a year and still grosses over $65K
I know some that work Friday,Saturday,Sunday and get paid for 40 hours.
I went to engineering school and am now a graphic artist/illustrator. I only went into engineering for the money. If I had been working my way through college, most likely I would have dropped out and started my own business like I did after I graduated.
My wife is an RN working three days a week at a prostate cancer research institute. She earned 35K last year.
Lots of RN's work 3 12 hour shifts per week. It's a common thing these days.
I think an RN can work just about as much as he/she wants because there is such a demand. I know one personally and she could work 24/7 if she could learn to do without sleep. Good pay but hard, demanding work.
