You are viewing the situation through the prism of a standard consciousness and communication. You are expecting her to respond in a "normal" fashion. It don't work the way. In other words, I wouldn't think she would be grimacing and crying, she is brain injured. She may be thinking grimace or cry but it ain't coming out that way.
