Ms. Underwood sounds as if she was a wonderful mother and a caring human being and I question why she did not see the need for the same characteristics in a father for her children?

How do you know she didn't? How do you know she realized what a jackass the guy was AFTER she got pregnant, and didn't want an abortion? You just don't know enough about this story to make such broad-brushed generalizations.

It is apparent that all of us are sad and distraught that this horrible crime has happened once again to a wonderful woman, her innocent son and unborn baby.

We are searching from our own experiences to come to grips with this all too familiar crime.

Laci Peterson picked a murdering lying cretin for a husband ....so perhaps there is no way to be certain of the parent you choose for your children....in the future I will keep my thoughts to myself and stay away from this forum, which is not as judgemental as I.

But, does it not make sense for us to point out that you should wait to sleep with someone until you are pretty sure they are not a jerk or a psycho? Is this not something we should (at the very least) be teaching girls?
I see far too many women who date and have sex with and even get pregnant by guys that *I* can see are jerks (maybe not murders, but true selfish jerks). They don't figure it out til the guy dumps them. What are they missing? I'm really not any smarter than anyone else.
