What's amazing to me is the people on these threads who argue that someone is eating up tax dollars or being a burden or, or, or...a human being is not a commodity. A human being is not property. A human being has worth regardless of the circumstances. When did we begin to put a price tag on a human life? God decided human lives were so valuable He gave up his own to save them.

I was head of the nursing home ministry in my church. I saw so many elderly and so many young accident victims who had been abandoned without hope. I started a choir, even for those who couldn't speak, and you should have seen the enthusiasm. Even the advanced Alzheimer's patients eyes would sparkle with joy when we sang Jesus Loves Me. And put a Sinatra song on for one of the "lost" causes and watch her whole face glow as bright as the sun.

People are valuable. They are God's and it is not our right to say if they live or die just because they're "inconvenient."

Watch how someone treats their family members -- especially the old or the disabled -- and you have a pretty good indication who and what they are all about.
