It is legal to get cigarettes in the way you describe.
However, you are supposed to pay a Use Tax to the almighty State of Connecticut at the end of the year on your tax form.
Almost nobody does it--but that is the law as written.
Jodi's tax increases will raise the stakes and motivate the state to begin serious collection efforts.
Wake up--these proposed tax increases are bad bad news--for you and everyone in CT who buys anything anywhere out of state.

All legal.As a resident, you are subject to a tax on your cigarettes no matter where you purchase them. Just like you are subject to sales tax on your auto even though you purchase it out of state. just because you can avoid paying the tax by purchasing them out of state doesn't mean you are not a tax cheat.
