I was speaking ironically about the torture affecting his brain. I think we need to realize that the fact that a man has served his country and even suffered for it does not necessarily preclude him from possessing evil tendencies. I wish it were otherwise, but I'm a realist.

I absolutely agree with you. I recall reading at one time that the very personality attributes that made it possible for McCain to resist his captors and to survive were not those that would necessarily serve him in good stead as a team player. And at least in his case he has proven that to be true, in my opinion. (Wish I could remember who said that!)
