Is Religion All in the Genes?

...modern science is turning up a possible reason why the religious right is flourishing and secular liberals aren't: instinct. It turns out that our DNA may predispose humans toward religious faith.

You can't *stop* evolution, Itchi, you can only hope to contain it. :)

Religion is a survival adaptation similar to our other social adaptations. There would be no reason to assume it could not have a genetic factor.

However, there is also a great deal of influence in non-genetic factors including parenting, heritage, custom and peer pressure.
