I heard this yesterday -- and I love John Gibson!

Frankly I think they would go do something fun and turnout numbers would fall even deeper

When I heard this, I couldn't help thinking that if Election Day were a day off, there'd be lot of pressure to move it to Monday -- for the ever-popular three-day weekend, and numbers would fall even more!

So if it was a day off, they would vote.

Dead people don't work, Hillary.

Well this recent parolee is not a Democrat. Staunch and lifelong Republican here. Though threads like this make realize I am not very welcomed in this party some times. But then, I vote my principles and beliefs, not anyone else's.

The theory here is that people want to vote, but they can't because they're working

Flash Alert to hillary:
The folks who would vote for her are not quite as employed as she imagines.

She proposed a national holiday for voting.

Another stupid idea from a Democrat who doesn't live in the real world.

Since voting is done on a Tuesday how many people will take a "sick day" to make it a four day "weekend", never vote at all, and get in late Monday morning?

Voting numbers will probably drop, but by then the "Election Day Holiday" will be entrenched as an entitlement, and the holiday card industry will make millions selling cards reading "Happy Election Day".

This is also pandering to the unions. To get more of the union vote, especially the government unions.

Hill's rationale? Make it even easier for them vote, and it could add an extra percent or two.

The unions would love it anyway, since it gets them another day off at their employers' expense.

The irony of hildabeast's plea is that a very large number of states give the right to vote back to convicted felons AFTER they have completed their sentences.

Ms. 'Fatankles' is looking to give the convicted felons, while serving their sentences, the right to vote regardless of if, when or where they're serving their time.

AND, oh by the way...she could give two farts about the millions of military votes that may get eliminated should the USPS screw-up the delivery of their absentee ballot to the serviceperson's designated election place.

I've written a number of emails to Republican leaders suggesting that the party commission an independent survey to research what the political background is for violent criminals (US Citizens, only).

I believe such a study would easily find that most of our violent felon population who've spent time in prison came from households where the parents would tend to vote Democrat.

Simple FIB Uniform Report on Crime data, combined demographic information about groups who most often vote for Democrats can quickly indicate where such a study would take us.

There is absolutely no question in my mind that such a study would point to Democrat households as the source of much of our societal ills...especially violent crime.

In NYS, election day is already a holiday for the left-leaning workers of the CSEA. (Civil Service Employees Assoc.)

A voting "holiday"?!?

Uh, why not just change election day to a Saturday???
(or would just be too easy)

I am inclined to believe there's a commonality of interest between Democrats and felons. Natural allies. Who do we register next, Al Qaeda?

Both Republican and Democrat sides of Congress are currently making suggestions for improving the electoral system in this country. But if you look closely at their suggestions, it looks like the Republican ideas are only ways to prevent Democrat dead and Democrat felons from voting more than one time each in any election, and the Democrats want no limit put on the number of ballots they are entitled to.

She also wants to repeal the rule or law or tradition that felons are not allowed to vote. This one is really good. Evidently she thinks, and Democrats think, that felons will vote for Democrats. Evidently she thinks people who have been to prison are more simpatico with the Dems than with conservatives.

This is the Michael Dukakis plan. I think I still have a "Get Out of Jail Free" card with Dukakis' picture on it.
