Yeah, ok.
I was going by memory as to the Europe thing. But the point was that Hoover wasn't elected to any public office prior to becoming POTUS.

President Garfield was not in a coma throughout the interval between his assassination (July 2, 1881) and his death (Sept. 19, 1881).

**Without Ronald Reagan as the leader of the free world Mrs. Thatcher would have had a pretty tough go of it. For all her merits, she ain't no Winston Churchill**
What do you really know about Margret Thatcher both domestically and on the world stage name where without Ronald Reagan's help she would have floundered. Their relationship was a partnership the same as GWB/Blair relationship or do you prescribe to Blair being GWB's poodle (I can't believe I an actually defending Blair).

**Do the names Margaret Thatcher or Golda Meir ring a bell?
Without US backing their enemies would have eaten them alive.**
I believe you are just anti women in authority or power.

The same can be said about many countries we backed who have been led by men. You're argument is losing ground quickly.

"So let's just say none of us will be surprised if, sometime next year, he will step down from the vice presidency due to his health."
Nothing but a rumor. They are just speculating.

Cheney being replaced by Condi will not add one thing to her attractiveness as a candidate..Secy of State is a very prestigeous position.
I am not be ready to choose a candidate for 2008 just yet..It's too early.

This would be a masterful political move, opening the door for a Condi vs. Clinton showdown in 2008. I'm already salivating at the prospect of their debates! Hillary won't know what hit her.

Absolutely and she will get more exposure as Secretary of State especially on the world stage.

Why? How?..Look at the history of the VP running as President..Secy of State is more visable and has great prestige.

I agree with the visibility and prestige (and even power), but how many Secretaries of State have ascended directly to the presidency?
To: Verginius Rufus
But he had been elected mayor of Boston.
