We conservatives have infinately more class than the liberals. They'll tolerate any flotsam and jetsam that floats through their party. Look at the protests for the Republican convention and what they'll tolerate. Look at the new DNC chair for the love of God. I think a lot of this 'eating our own' comes from a desire to be the best we can be. It's a bit misguided, but it can be overcome.
I agree with that. You see quite often expressions of regret when someone gets insulted by critical thinkers. Most of it is meant to teach and guide thinking.
Especially the newbs, who are often in a transition phase to conservative thinking.

Yep, and it has been made into a much bigger issue than it really is. It actually is overcome on a daily basis. Here and on radio and TV talk shows.
The more the term "eating our own" is used the more ammo the enemy has.
But in the long run, what ever ammo they have, they will just keep shooting themselves in the foot with it. Heck, we got Dean appointed to the head of the DNC! Now that is a real victory! LOL
