"Our home is like a funeral parlor," Renea Young said. "They've robbed us of our laughter. My spirit, my soul, is damaged."

So no doubt her lawsuit for pain and injury to her soul is next. This lady made her choice to sue and, while certainly crank phone calls and harassment are out of line, I think she deserves to be shunned. She was so anxious to make those girls "take responsibility" for what they did, now she can do the same thing and take responsibility for what she did. Oh, she didn't mean them any harm? They didn't mean her any harm either, yet that didn't stop her from filing her lawsuit. Too bad, lady.

Idiots.

They took a couple of young neighbors to court for no other reason than they were too flaky/unstable to deal with a knock at the door at 10:30.

Now they're too unstable/flaky to figure out the reasons for the unhappiness they stirred up!

These are pretty standard Blue State people and they need a lot more than a little treatment for anxiety - they need the best professional help they can get!

One thing left out of the article ... how the Youngs sued the girls for pain and suffering. The judge had enough sense not to award them that.

Not just pain and suffering, but also the cost of installing a motion detector light on the porch as well.

The judge agreed to award the medical bills because all parties agreed to that amount. Had the other families objected, I doubt she would have even gotten that.

As to her whining about the problems - gee, if you go make a court case out of a plate of cookies, you're going to get razzed for it. It's how the cookie crumbles, don'tcha know.

From the article: "Our home is like a funeral parlor," Renea Young said. "They've robbed us of our laughter. My spirit, my soul, is damaged."

She was damaged long before this fiasco.

She questions whether she can continue as president of the board and director of the Durango Food Bank, where co-workers say Young is a dedicated and capable leader, ...

"The food bank has been my passion.

A definite 'Hillary'. Folks, charity begins at home.

Bet she wishes she could file a reverse-class-action lawsuit.

All for 900.00. She reaps what she sows.

"....they asked Young to sign an agreement that, with the roughly $900 paid, she would not make additional claims. Young said she was bothered by that request and the lack of trust she believed it signaled."

Boy, what a pant-load - (and oh so many punch-lines).

I've skimmed the article, not reading in detail, but I am struck by the things that she is complaining about that have happened since she filed the lawsuit. She hasn't returned to her job, she isn't participating as a board member for the local food bank, they're getting cookies and empty boxes in the mail, they're getting threatening phone calls, her daughter is in tears often, etc etc etc. Yet, she says she'd do it again, that going to court was the right thing to do. Ya know, if there's one thing I've learned in life, it's that sometimes walking away and letting something go is the best course of action.

A local radio station had a fundraiser. They raised enough money to cover their expenses and then some. The girls gave the overage to the Never Forgotten Fund (for Columbine survivors).

The dad of these girls had a restraining order placed against Herb Young to stop him from making harrassing calls to their house.
