I don't think Memphis is quite big enough to have the "dead vote" sway the election, and I don't know of any moderate Republican strongholds in Tennessee comprable to the Philly suburbs. (Though I welcome anyone who knows the state to correct me on that)

Fee:
In the Memphis area, they are either VERY conservative (Republican) or moderate democrat. Within the city of Memphis, it is more democrat though. The suburbs are conservative Republican.

he is a virulent liberal.... Why is frist retiring in 2006? He has more duty to his country and more is being asked of him

Fee:
I'm wondering that too....I want to see Frist become President. He'd make an excellent President!

> What a mature, logical, and reasonable response. I see you took time to read my other posts about the topic as well.

I posted before I read your mash-fest with Lamar.

I could go on about how Lamar's populist plaid shirt coupled with timid ideas and uninspiring leadership (what did he do in the Senate. Authored?), but that would put people to sleep.

Lamar is an alright guy, but not Presidential material.

I lived in the 9th district for 30 years. No it was not a coincidence that Jr. now has the seat that his father held. It was inherited. You would have to live here to understand the Black Memphis mentality.

Over and over I have tried to put out the message about the Ford's, and if you will read through the post on this thread, you will see the information that we who live here are giving.

" Maybe we are on the same page and just don't know it!!!!!!!!!!!!! "

Well, your original response to my initial post was that unless, somehow, I lived in Memphis I wouldn't know what I was talking about .. but I can live in Timbuktu and know that Jr. got the seat from daddy. So, we are more or less on the same page, I guess. And my condolences for having the Fords as your reps for 30 yeras :(

Junior is a tool. I have heard him speak on Imus, he sounds like a 15 year old who won the "Mayor for a Day" contest in High School.

His speaking style is that of someone using words and phrases that are not his ordinary speach. He is very stiff, he doen't come across genuine.

W can misspeake, hell I misspeak, but W is genuine, it come right through.

We are not going to allow that seat to go the those trolls.

I would be shocked and frankly impressed if that was true. I just don't see how he could outshake Teddy Roosevelt though.

I don't know who's record he broke, but Richardson, during his campaign for governor, set the record at a state fair (or something like it).

He really is in the Guinnes book of world records for most handshakes in a day.

Theodore R is a virulent liberal and worked as hard as he could to undermine the effort to get coburn elected here on DU, I have complained several times to the admin moderator and reported several of his liberal speeches, but he was never deleted

Theodore R is a liberal, his FREAKING NAME ("Theodore R.") is the name of a democrat! I have no idea, why I have reported him 5 times and FR has refused to delete him. I GAURENTEE YOU if you look at ANY of his posts on ANY SUBJECT he will be towing the liberal line.. GAURENTEED!

I don't know maybe nobody cares that he is a troll, he has been a troll for a long time, he is even from seattle.

Theodore R:

How is my favorite troll today? You know I trolled over at DU for a long time too but they caught me! Anyway don't worry about canceling your name, the moderators here at FR aren't too concerned about it!

Even though we live in Tennessee, my Husband is from OKC, and his brothers still live there, so what TR was saying just wasn't sounding like the people of Oklahoma that I know. Thanks for cluing us in.

I've heard that Harold Ford is clean himself and he is one of the few sincere democrats (wrong, but sincere). The comment earlier that he is smarter than Gore is right on. He is in a very Red area, but he won't be an easy victory for us. The good news is that running against a clean and smart democrat, albeit rare, will keep us from becoming complacent.

I agree. He's very smart, a gentleman, and has good conservative ideas (unlike some of our own). He very well could rise up and take the senate. Too bad he's not a Republican.

He's less moderate than thought, pro choice, anti gun ownership, The Christian Coalition has said he has an anti family voting record, against privatizing social security, anti death penalty. He's a liberal moderate. There's more on his voting record at http://www.issues2000.org/House/Harold_Ford.htm.

If someone attacks him on his voting record he's doomed.
