I've noticed just that in myself. I used to look at Drudge every day or other day, because a) the 'big news' sites took 10 weeks and a day to load all their useless junk and b) you couldn't trust what they had, at that (maybe FOX on many stories, but they too load up on the junk). Drudge was easy to view. And if I missed something, I'd look to the archived links (which I found very useful).

But since the Swifties really made me aware of this site - which was actually thanks to a Drudge link originally - and particularly since the election, I find myself just coming here. I very infrequently look at the Drudge page. But I hope he continues to do well. After all, naysayers to the contrary, it was Drudge who helped with the Swifty story, initially linking to the Spring press conference (that only Newsmax or WND, apparently, attended). Admittedly, he was hot on Hersh's 'payroll' with Abu Graib, but . . Drudge helped gin up interest in Rathergate, which for some recent 'blog' victories, still reigns as the principal coming-out episode for the weblogs. I think he helped break stories on Sandy 'Pants'. And so on.

But yes, compared with FR and weblogs, Drudge does seem like he plays catch-up more and more. But that's fine. As long as he keeps getting the hits, his delayed reaction still announces a link to those who otherwise wouldn't know. And he does still try to find those Drudge-only scoops. Have to see how it goes for him. I hope 'freepers' wish him just the best because Drudge accomplished a lot.
