There is a document that one of the seers at LaSalette passed around when she was older that was not approved, and this is maybe what you were thinking about...but the original apparition and message was approved.

I believe it is possible to have sinned, repented, be forgiven then possibly gain eternal salvation. I believe that Christ clearly teaches this and teaches what one must obediently believe and do in this regard; however, objectively in but few cases it is almost impossible to discern the fate of another in this regard (not discounting the possibility that an individual may know only himself that he is not a sinner and is holy).
The Catholic Church canonizes saints based upon the teachings of Christ in addition to taking into account objective evidence of the Holy Spirit manifested in certain individuals e.g. miracles. Regarding canonization, the Church looks objectively at all evidence in regard to that which comprised and comprises the life and legacy of an individual after they have passed before declaring them saint.
A person may have gravely sinned repeatedly during his life and still attain eternal salvation; however, no one including the Church could objectively know his fate as there is only One who knows in such a case. Finally, as to saints, if any contrary evidence were to come to light or evidence was found to be lacking -saint 'status' would be removed.
In other words, those who are Canonized are sinless?
Where is that in Scripture?
Not necessarily -remember, the totality of scripture AND our limits temporally come into play as to our ability to discern. Those who are Canonized are said to be in Heaven and are but a subset of all who potentially are in Heaven that we do not know of...
All that can be said regarding the sinless is that those who are sinless and accept Christ are accepted with open arms by Christ into eternal salvation. Paul was a bigtime sinner yet he is a saint now -why? Because Paul was forgiven and objectively we know this by Christ's testimony... Objective evidence versus subjective evidence is what we humans are relegated to as we can not read the hearts of men as only He can....
Objective evidence...
St. Anne, of course. And Joachim is his grampa. Don't they teach anything in the schools anymore?
What authentically underlies and what actually comprises the processes of beatification and canonization are not well understood by many and the subject entails much more than what is often only discussed on the surface.
If you want to look more deeply into the subject here are a few links to get you going:
Sorry, sorry, sorry. I made a mistake and I wrote something that someone told me.
When I actually thought about it, there were lots of apparitions, Teresa Neuman, Anne Catherine Emmerich, Josefa Menendez, to name a few, that are approved.
I truly am sorry.
