Which does bring to mind how it would be easy for the perps to hide out for a day or so in a good-sized mall.
There are usually a maze of corridors and service entrances...but, from my retail working days, those back room doors are fireproof. My thoughts, you would be safer in a 'look down' in the back, on the floor, than running for the door (particularly with multiple gunmen in the building).
