Yes it is a heartwarming story however, I wouldn't call it a recovery. This poor soul will never leave the nursing home or lead a normal life. I sure hope they caught the drunken scum that did this to her!

You're right, she will never have a full recovery, twenty years is just too long - BUT - it does show that a mature brain can work to repair itself without an infusion of stem cells - Now the thing to look at is WHY such a thing occurs and try to lean how to stimulate that development - If Neurons can regenerate, Id think many other things could as well, if 'teased' into doing so.
As for catching the Drunk, I hope they have, and if they haven't, I hope that this victim can now give assistance in tracking him/her down, provided her memory is good enough.
