Ga. Driver's Ed Teacher Pinned Under Car
ASSOCIATED PRESS
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (AP) - A driver's education instructor was run over by one of her students and pinned beneath the car for 15 minutes, officials said.
Two cars driven by students collided on the DeKalb County Schools driver's education lot, then one of the students backed into Patricia Erwin, running her over.
She was hospitalized Friday in stable condition and underwent surgery for multiple broken bones.
Erwin, 64, who has taught driving for 20 years, was working with the students on a drill that included pulling forward and backing up at slow speeds, said Kal Kelliher, the district's driver's education coordinator.

This kid's only chance is if the instructor grades on a curve. If it's Pass/Fail I think the kid's out of luck.
Never stand where you can be run over by your student!
The kid could still pass if the teacher offers make-up exams.
I'll never forget my High School Driver's Ed Intructor.
Great guy but I terrified him....
Shortly after he graduated me he died of a heart attack...
I've always had a twang of guilt that somehow I greatly contributed to his demise...
This was over 30 years ago...

Did you take him through the McDonald's drive-thru during your lessons? ;-)
Hmmmm!
Driver trainning memories.
My teacher was known for his classroom tantrums-ie tossing chalk or waste baskets at violators,
So when we got him for driver trainning, we were terrified!
To teach us to park, he'd put his venerable old Plymouth, named Minerva, on one end of the "parking space" and a trash can on the other.
If you hit Minerva, you flunked!
If I drove through a McDonalds it wasn't intentional...

We're trained professionals. Don't try this at home.
I was shocked to learn many years later that he committed suicide.
The Twit of the Year comes to mind
"And Oliver has run himself over!!!"
LOL! I looked for a pic of that sketch, but only found the final scene where they shoot themselves in the head.
Never stand where you can be run over by your student!
That rule is contained in the Instructor's manual. Rule #1 from the studen t driver handbook should read:
Don't run over your Driver Instructor
See post #13.
See post #13.
I remember going through Driver's Ed at the DeKalb County facility. The instructors back then (I'm not saying when!) were pretty good, and I learned a lot of good driving habits from them.
If you ever go looking for that episode, it's Season Two, Episode 25, and the sketch is titled "Upper Middle Class Twit of The Year."
Thanks.
