To stop Hillary, draft Condi - Dick Morris

As a social conservative and deeply religious person, she would face no bar in winning the votes of the Christian right, so crucial to winning the Republican nomination. Unlike former New York Mayor Rudy Guiliani (R) and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) — both of whom could probably win in November — she would be very attractive to the pro-life, anti-gun-control, anti-affirmative-action base of the GOP.

America longs to put the period on the disgraceful chapter in our nation’s history that began when the first slave arrived at Jamestown, Va., more than 400 years ago. We also want to send a message to every girl, and every African-American or Hispanic baby, that there is no ceiling and that you can rise as far as your ability will carry you.

I agree with you, BUT the electors don't. Check out the last few Presidents and you will find they were all governors beforehand. Senators before that (JFK, LBJ and Nixon). Eisenhower was a fluke - as much as I admire him and his record - which is a LOT. Anyone who had the balls to kick out a million illegal aliens is tops in my book, much less his willingness to let the French fail in Indochina and the Brits and French to fall on their faces in Suez.

The best road map is governor. However, I think that Dr. Rice has been groomed by the best and will do fine.

No doubt she is good from what we have seen so far. Good enough for President? Not yet in my book. Lets see what she does at Foggy Bottom. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."

Condi might not face 08 as Sec of State.

She may become the Vice President by then.
(Cheney may bow out)

If she becomes Veep...then there is also the possiblity
she may assume the presidency before 08....
I love W... he might find a way to step aside if he
thought it would make the difference and keep a devil
such as Hillary out of the White House.

Condi as incumbent President would be hard to beat in 08.

I'm wondering how much opposition to Condi is race based?

There's some of that, sure. How much? That I don't know.

You know it's very possible.
Either way it will be a laugh attack a minute watching the dems demagogue a brilliant black lady just because she is not on their side. That could get tough to explain on their part since they are the party of black people(with 80-85% of the black vote) and had "the first black President" from 92-2,000.

Rather see her as a VP candidate first. All in all, I would vote for her, she is a tough nut with a good head on hert shoulders.

IMHO Out of all the men mentioned only Jeb or Guiliani have any national recognition or charisma.

What worries me is that we could possibly lose "any" votes due to single issue voters. We need to rise above that for the sake of the country. Does any one remember the Clinton years. Want to see that, only worse, again? Having respect for one's personal views and beliefs is one thing but dumping a candidate and putting Hillary in office because of any single issue is just dumb.

There are few perfect candidates out there. It's always a compromise of sorts. Any one here happy with GW's immigration policies? Perfect example. Yet most of us love and respect him as a President. Let common sense be your guide.

....give Dr. Rice a chance to get her feet wet first....a few more years as Secretary of State....having said that...Dr. Rice definitely portrays a softer side versus Hillary....and Dr. Rice is far more cultured, sophisticated, intelligent...and more civilized than Hillary......

I must confess a true respect for the entire Bush family. Though 41 probably wouldn't know me from Adam I have covered his exploits in the Keys and conversed with him several times since 79.

My daughter was privileged to guard Jeb's family when she was in law enforcement. Over the years you get little tid-bits that tell who is the real thing and who the phonies are. The Clintons are the phonies and the Bush's are the real thing. Lucky for us.

I don't know if Jeb could win. Three from the same family would be an incredible stretch but he is every bit an equal to his Brother IMHO.

I think your diagnosis is right on. And recent pictures of her look like she has been doing some heavy self-medicating.
