Rush Greeted Like Rock Star
NewsMax ^ | February 9, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 02/09/2005 9:21:23 AM PST by Kaslin

America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.

The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.

"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."

The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."

That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.

Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.

Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."

2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.

"Ask him why his home page states that we shouldn't care which party caused the problem; just solve it!"

I'll answer your question.

I'm a registered Independent.

AND I voted for President Bush in 2000 and 2004

Sounds like maybe we SHOULD BE concerned with Hillary. She can easily get 43% of the vote and win the presidency with a thrid party candidate.

Do you think he might know it doesn't matter and that there are more important (and funny) matters to talk about.

More important than the U.S. Constitution Amendment 14 Sec 3?

Yep! If they won't listen to our voices they may suffer from our lack of votes.

I'm fed up by anyone who serves who uses their medal as an excuse to cut someone else down, particularly in this case, Rush Limbaugh.

Defend Tonk, that's find with me, but I choose to defend Rush Limbaugh because in either case, whether he went after Kerry or not you will call him a hypocrite. Why? Rush didn't serve, so he shouldn't be throwing his weight around to tell service people to do 'a' and 'b' to acieve 'c'.

I will bet you, given the opportunity, Rush would vociferously defend Tonk no matter what the circumstance may be.

Tonk is a great FReeper. His sights are just a tad off target.

Congrats on the no smoking thing! your cat is cute too.

I guess I just saw it as Tonk pointing out that Rush could use his talents and his voice to make sure Kerry signs the 180, which he ABSOLUTELY must do. Especially if the scumbag thinks he's going to run again in '08.

There are definitely two sides to this. FReepers who think Rush shouldn't bother (and Tonk too, for that matter) and people who think that a sin is still a sin, and when it affects thousands, those with voices should stand up.

Difference of opinions I guess.

Precisely. By voting third party, one would just entitle Hillary to the Presidency, and she wouldn't have to lift a finger on the campaign trail.

I think Rush could use his voice to alert the 20+ million audience members he has, but it would certainly be a slippery slope, as the Democrats will charge he has no right to attack Kerry because he didn't serve in the military. Attacking Kerry's military service is up to guys like Tonk and the Swifties.

Any vet who reads this thread will likely come away feeling like they will be jumped on if they bring up their service

Not true, I'm a vet who has tried to tell this guy to stop hijacking this thread and has in turn been pounced upon by a couple of folks. Right now I am not at the point where I wish to let Gulf know exactly what I think about his current antics. As of right now, each and every one of his allegations has been debunked and rather than admit he was wrong, he simply counters with "yea, but what about" type of statements and is overwhelmingly supported by FReepers simply because he is a vet.

Respecting the fact that he is a fellow vet, I will not offer any further comments on his obvious showboating on this thread nor will I grant him the attention to his last two ridiculous postings to me.......

"As of right now, each and every one of his allegations has been debunked and rather than admit he was wrong"

Starting rumors again?

Show where these original "goalposts" have been proven to be false.

"Rush won't even ask him, in 2005,
when he will sign Form 180.

Or why Hanoi Kerry is still in the US Senate.

Or when Hanoi Kerry will set the record straight
on his false testimony in April 71"

Proof?

Where did I mention heroics or hero?

Another "fib" by you about my home page

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1339524/posts?page=258#258

"What TGYC is attempting to do is identify himself with the true Swift Boat Vets via assimiliation simply because he "May" have helped service such boats while stationed on the Corry when they were deployed off the coast of Vietnam."

What my page ACTUALLY says

I was there the same time Kerry was.
I was there Oct'68-Apr'69 on the destroyer USS Corry DD-817

which sometime supplied PCF's and PBR's

and provided gunfire and gunfire support
in North AND South Viet Nam.

My ship may have even supplied
Kerry's boat in the Mekong Delta

Although there are many similarities between naval gunfire support
and Operation Sea Dragon (which ended Nov '68), they differ in two important areas:
naval gunfire support is normally fired at the request of troops ashore,
while Sea Dragon's mission is the interdiction of supplies and destruction
of military targets; and naval gunfire support is always conducted in South Vietnam,
while Sea Dragon missions are fired only above the demilitarized zone.

29 US Navy ships received gunfire from Viet Cong shore batteries.
My ship DID NOT get hit by the VC.

In Feb '69 my ship was part of Operation Bold Mariner
which was the largest amphibious assault since Korea.

each and every one of his allegations has been debunked

By whom? CBS? John Kerry? Ted Kennedy? The only way for the allegations to be debunked is for Kerry to sign a 180. Period.
