Foxnews is reporting that Sharon and Abbas are meeting, and that the announcement of a formal cease-fire is imminent. They said this is 'not the start of peace but the start of the process that will lead to peace'.
Apparently Abbas and Sharon will continue peace talks throughout the day after the announcement.
My problem is that I'm just cynical about peace in the ME.
Bush's foreign policy is clearly failing. Failing to encourage the terrorists, that is.
Still, I am optimistic that something has changed, since something has changed (Arafat is dead).
It won't be over until after Evil is defeated forever.
The problem is, muslims don't keep their word, they will break any agreement, they will lie, they have no concept of what real honor means.
I know, I know.
Personally, I still don't understand why billions of tax money has to be spent on AIDS in Africa.
Or here, for that matter.
Seems that the Marxist government in SA should be paradise by now, and not be demanding $$$, let alone us giving it.
There is a passage in the Koran about Allah and his messenger dissoving all agreements.
Someone here must know it.
That is why they will continue to buld the wall.
I am sure Sharon does not actually trust them. He would be mad to. But at the same time he has to at least give a ceasefire ago. If it falls apart in two weeks time then nothing will have been lost. And Israel will have once again shown its willingness to try for peace.
Pray for peace.
I think it is the region and not the religion. The Muslims I have known and worked with were honorable.
Pray for peace.
.........................................................
PING
Let God sort it out, us humans have no hope.
Their religion preaches lying and cheating of non-Muslims.
However, I will be praying that peace breaks out in the middle east.
Arafat id dead and 43 was re-elected.
If Arafat had died and John Kerry was president, it would be SSDD in the ME.
I recall one of the Israeli leaders saying something like "A cease fire is where we cease and they fire". Someone else once said "The palestinians never miss a chance to miss a chance".
This is good news but after all this time it has to be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism.
No, it's a quagmire.
In fact, even this thread about the peace process is a quagmire.
I'll probably even have a quagmired day just reading about it.
