Actually, since the sixth century, the Muslims plan, and drive was and still is to convert as many people as possible to Islam. That can happen only through orchestrated effort of Muslim countries, and Islamic underground organizations that are typically winked at by the Muslim governments.
The U.S. and most of the West are not so attached to their religion, and are not so driven to convert others at any cost to any particular religion. That IS a mistake in the current war against the Muslim terrorists. The enemys drive is to convert us to Islam!! If we can ALL agree on that one statement, then there will be hope for my readers to follow my logic.
OK, I am going to assume that all my readers confirm that our enemys single motive that drives him to kill himself is TO CONVERT US TO ISLAM! It follows then; the weapon to fight back is TO CONVERT THEM TO CHRISTIANITY, a la Ann Coulter. Now, I can hear all the screaming from our Jewish citizens saying but, the separation of church and state? We are not a Christian country? Our military knows only how to fight, and not to force convert people to Christianity! The answer to these concerns is yes I understand, but, we must inflict the REAL pain on the enemy. Killing the enemy is not pain, and we know it - the reason is because they are going to heaven with 72 virgins. What really hurt is to convert their wives or sister to Christianity , Judaism, Buddhism or Hinduism.
To deal with this issue, we must approach this subject OPENLY! Openly you said? Yes, our president, and media MUST openly discuss the concept of freedom to convert people from Islam to other religions. Our Jewish/Christian/Buddhist/Hindu/Godless organizations should be free to set up proselytizing shops in Saudi Arabia, and other Muslim nations to convince, and convert as many Muslims to their religions. At first, we are all programmed to think that that would never work, because Muslims kill any other Muslim that converts to other religion. The point here is this is the only effective weapon that they can understand. Failing to recognize that would only mean that we will be chancing our tails for many generations to come.
The Saudi government, and Most other Muslim governments are spending good part of their national income to proselytize Islam throughout the world, and if the rest of the world is indifferent about such OPEN activity, then the rest of the world is in denial of the driving force for Islam and Muslims, and the obvious counter measure needed to stop this drive. The UN and the rest of the world organizations MUST openly talk about the freedom of all people to believe, and practice their religions any where on this planet. If a person is convinced (not forced) to convert from one faith to another, there should never be retaliation (officially or not)! The whole world should be very much attuned to this simple idea, as we are (public/media/government) all attuned to Nazism, or racial discrimination as an evil thing that must be monitored and stopped. To this end, any force conversion in any far places like Sudan or Egypt should be front page news in the entire world, simply because it illustrates that one side is not playing fair!
Now do you suppose President Bush can call the King of Saudi Arabia and say hey my friend, you are building mosques all over my country, and are free to proselyte to our citizens; from now on, I expect reciprocation of favor. If not, we will demolish all the mosques that you funded, and stop all your proselytizing activities. If such discussions were made public to the whole world to see, do you suppose any fair minded person can call the US bully, or not diplomatic? How can equal treatment offend people? Why are we thinking that with guns we are going to affect people who are ready to die for Allah? Once we learn that the drive from the sixth century must be countered by counter drive; this would put the whole competition under fair ground rules, like any sport competitions. Outside referees will call any foul play.
Against furniture? He made a whip and went after the offenders. Even still, if all he had harmed was furniture, a violent rampage is a violent rampage.
As for values, it was Jesus' own actions. I don't try to make Jesus out to be some peacenick (or otherwise) because that's what I want him to be, He was who and what He was. In defence of the sanctity of His Father's temple, He saw His actions as appropriate.
A neo-Nazi I know showed me a collection of Hitler's paintings and while I reject the philosophy of their creator the talent inherently displayed was indisputable. His landscapes and cityscapes were very good but it was striking to me the lack of people in his art. His cityscapes, for instance, portrayed towns that wer clearly drawn in daylight, yet the streets are eerily empty. I wonder if he knew how apersonal this was?
I imagine a sketch of, say, Times Square absent any people and that is how I perceive Hitler's work. I find it revealing about the man that he avoided the personal interaction of drawing people.
It is a good plan isn`t it? I mean ask yourself; Why hasn`t Jihad been declared against Communist countries like China, Cuba or North Korea? Why don`t these Al-Qaeda creeps call for the death of Kim Jong Il, Castro instead of George Bush? Why don`t they burn the Korean flag or the Cuban flag? I just talked to a Cuban I work with and he told me to my face there are no Muslims in Cuba. What am I missing here?? Muslims say all the time the Koran says they must spread Islam and declare Jihad on those countries that prevent it. Well where are the suicide bombers in China? Where are the Jihadists in Cuba?
As you mention, it is apparent, I think, that Hitler is hiding (or avoiding) something behind the sterile subjects of his painting.
There is no doubt that people are more difficult (and more expressive) than buildings and landscapes, but I think A.H.'s work in impressive in retrospect.
But as to his politics, I think he turned his artistic energy into anger and we know the horror of his creation.

Scenes like this one answer the question about why they aren't "open to mutual proselytizing."
"But by the fact you couldn't show me where Jesus wanted us to be violent against anyone shows me you cannot."
Now you're being a dumbass. I was trying to be nice and respectful (for a change) and you had to be a toad.
I never said Jesus advocated violence. He also never said to sit down and take it.
And since you're being a dumbass try these on for size:
Matthew 10:34 - Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (KJV)
Luke 22:36 - Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. (KJV)
Luke 19:27 - But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.
(KJV)
He did want forgiveness and love, but Jesus didn't say:
"Surrender your spine and become a wussie."
First of all, you presume that I am a Christian, I have never said one way or the other. However; Proud to tell of a "violent" Jesus? Not especially, I am only proud to tell of the real Jesus, the One who allowed himself to be tortured and murdered by others to give all who believe in Him eternal life! And I will not sugar coat Him because I prefer to believe in Jesus Christ Superstar.
John 2:15 (NIV)
So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
I have never in my life seen anyone make a whip to use on furniture, and because Jesus was Holy and just, I doubt that he used it on the animals (wasn't their fault).
Luke 22:36 (NIV)
He said to them, But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
One doesn't normally need a sword to sing Kumbaya!
Matthew 10:34 (NIV)
Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
Kinda speaks for itself.
Revelation 19:15
Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. [ Psalm 2:9] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty.
I just don't even know where to start in Revelation...
As for your assertion that I (we) are trying to create a violent Jesus, I said before, He was what and who He was as recorded in scripture.
As for Jesus' "message", it was in fact: Forgiveness of sins through belief in Him and only Him as the one and only Son of God the Father. It is the hope of eternal life that makes our "religion" superior, that and truth. Yes He preached forgiveness, both for us an by us, but the Bible also says that there is a time for war as well as peace. I don't believe anyone said that they want war (especially perpetually) but it is, sometimes, necessary.
Go ahead and log off. The truth will still be the truth whether you choose to hear it or not.
I don't get it.
I see we have a common friend. Nice to know not everyone reinvents Jesus in their own image. (:
John, I believe the Commandment is more accurately translated into modern English as 'Thou Shalt Not Murder' - killing per se isn't wrong in the Christain faith.
I'm stealing that...
"Please do name at least one Christian terrorist organization?"
Off the top of my head: The IRA, the UVF, the UDA, split clearly, precisely and historically along nationalist and religious denominational principles. Murdering scumbags every one, but they all claim to have Jesus on their side.
Yeah, well....I get tired of people trying to turn Him into some kind of '70's hippie peacenick. Whatever righteousess demanded is what He delivered and will deliver.
Jesus didn't go to the cross to avoid conflict or confrontation. He did it because it was the only way to rescue our sorry hides.
God bless you Brother!
