Deep Throat Close to Death

Deep Throat Close to Death It appears the Watergate source known as "Deep Throat" may be close to death, and that means that individuals name may be made public for the first time.

Reporter Bob Woodward has said in the past that he would disclose the identity of the course when that person died. Deep Throat helped Woodward and the Washington POst expose the Nixon Water gate scandal.

The Washington Post has already prepared an obituary, which means the world may soon know the secret Woodward has managed to keep for 30-years.

They had a tribute to Ford in August (30th anniversary)in Washington. He was looking wobbly, and spoke very slow.

It was his last public appearence.

And Monica told me it was physiologically impossible to be Deep Throat around Bill Clinton.

I agree, there is no "Deep Throat." Woodward may have had a little inside info from some low-level staffer, but I think the rest he just made up. Even though Nixon resigned, much of what was attributed to DT has never been verified as factual.

If there was actually a high-level leak (Bush, Kissinger, Haig, etc.) they would have "set the record straight" a long time ago. And Woodward's assertion that he has "permission" to reveal his source after his death is ridiculous, who would allow this to be done like this? At best, they would have a statement to be released at their death.

Also, the article says that an obituary has been prepared. This makes it sound like it has been prepared very recently. All major news outlets have obituaries prepared and updated regularly for ALL major notable people, and this would include any of the men suggested here.

He was House Minority leader, with a lot of connections in Washington since he earlier participated in the Warran commission (fraud).

Ford isn't an impossibility. But Dean is a snitch; I'd pick him.

Nixon was a socialist. He had no idea what made this Republic great. He gave us wage and price controls -- total idiot for doing such. He gave us the EPA -- another assault on Freedom. He was okay on Foreign Policy and was a misunderstood man. He was not morally corrupt, but like most Presidents, he began programs that morph into bureaucratic monsters that suck more and more of the hard earned income of the hard working Americans. It's quite rare to have Presidents who respect the 10th Amendment.

You nailed it. My sentiments exactly.

"I have a theory that there is no "Deep Throat" except in the minds of Woodward and Bernstein."

I have been thinking the same thing for 30 years.

My husband thinks it's Gerald Ford.

That sounds right to me too. After his performance on the Warren Commission anything is possible.

Dean was already in prison when some of the allegations occurred.

Someone at the WTimes, Pruden perhaps, ought to try and get Ford on the record about DT and have it in the can to make Woodward look like a fool (like he needs any help). Also interview Bernstein and get him on the record as well -- his DT story may not match Woodward's.

Maybe Woodward is pretending that deep throat is near death and soon to be named, to deny the 15 seconds of fame sought by the reporter who said it was GHWB.

My guess would be that it's someone most people wouldn't recognize the name of.

If it's anyone who we would "know," I would agree its Dean. It would tie in nicely with G. Gordon Liddy's claims against Dean:

G. Gordon Liddy accused John Dean of being the mastermind behind Watergate. Liddy alleged that Dean ordered the break-in to retrieve information that linked Dean’s girlfriend to a Washington prostitution ring. For this accusation, Dean sued Liddy, but in early 2001, the case was dismissed. Liddy proclaimed on the witness stand, “Sir, as I have said before and I will repeat until my dying day, [Dean] is a serial perjurer.”

Did you ever put apricot or peach jam on a grilled cheese,,it is incredibly good.

My sister used to love peanut butter and banana sandwiches but she didn't grill them.

I like eating sweetened condensed milk, I swear that stuff is crack cocaine to me. As a kid I was allowed to lick the can,,,hmmm good.

Dole? How was he privy to all that. Besides, I love Bob Dole. I even have a giant turtle out in my lake that I call Bob Dole.
