Yup. Clint's okay. I get a little cranky with FReepers who think a filmmaker can't explore an issue or a topic they might not agree with without being "branded." That's the kind of thing the Libs do with Mel Gibson, for one handy example.

Some of these replies sound like what one would expect of the DU'er - snap judgments when not even having see the movie!

I lived in Carmel for some years - small town about 4000 - I had private dealings with Clint - don't start knocking him. He's one of the good guys - straight as an arrow conservative - has done a lot of good things not many will know about.

But he's a story teller - who tells a story...he doesn't use movies, like the libs, to send a message. Let's not turn on our own. Especially in Hollywood - there's too few on "our side" out there.

All movies have a 'message'. But good art shouldn't be able to be reduced to just a message. The Cider House Rules could be hence it wasn't good art. King Lear can't be...it is.
