Absolutely right. I made a similar point upthread about Lieberman.
One of the most "stand-up" things that Lieberman did, which gave me a lot of respect for him, was when they were having the hearings about Abu Ghraib, around the middle of last year...the one after the President apologized on behalf of the nation...
Lieberman said (and I paraphrase) "to be fair, the people who beheaded Nick Berg have yet to apologize, the people who murdered those four contractors in Fallujah have yet to apoloze, and those who were responsible for murdering over 3000 people on September 11 have yet to apologize." He called for reasonable discourse, and from that day on, my respect for him has increased.
