People often resist most strongly things that they know must be true. Many have a protective filter that stops any train of thought that might lead to admitting they've been lied to, and fell for it. Or, admitting they've been screwed over, and couldn't or wouldn't stop it. Then there are those who act like derision will protect them from the scary stuff.

The hook after basic explanation is to say that "THIS IS THE SLIPPERY SLOPE. WE ARE THERE" The death lobby and judges are going to take an innocent life, and they've done it before. That's what Hitler did.
