This morning, the Tampa Tribune reported that the Florida Dept of Health failed to report thousands of cases of possible crimes to law enforcement agencies. How many reports filed on behalf of Terri Schiavo were ignored?

"Agwunobi had health department investigators spend the weekend examining 24,000 case files to determine how many of them hadn't been referred to prosecutors. On Tuesday, he abruptly ordered the distribution of a huge referral list."

"Late Wednesday, the department amended its numbers to say it had referred 15,697 cases to prosecutors statewide."

"Nearly 6,000 cases remained under review by the department to determine probable cause, but they were included in the referrals, department spokeswoman Lindsay Hodges said. Some 9,728 were determined to have had probable cause and should have been referred, she said."

"I'm fairly disappointed in what the investigation found," Agwunobi said. "I stand here embarrassed and angry."

"It's hard to believe the public is being protected by a process that takes over a decade to complete," said Lee, R-Brandon.

"It's not right, it's not good, and we need to look at some of the facts and find out what is going on," said Bense, R-Panama City.
