This time line on Moore is very interesting but there is an important segment missing. That is Moore's connection with the Flint auto worker activists in the 1980's and that is the "real" MICHAELGATE.
Moore has made a career out of distorting the facts and character assassination of his enemies. It is common knowledge that he has manipulated the truth whenever necessary. That has all been said.
It is also true that when you have someone with the influence that Moore has on our culture ,and he is becoming more popular ,it bears taking a very in depth look at where he "really" came from.
Are there skeletons in Moore's closet?
Is he the genius he claims to be and the "original" Don Quixote of the "working class" or is it one of the biggest scams ever pulled?
Has there been a... MICHAELGATE... pulled off under the nose of the entire world? Is there much more to the story?
Have you seen The Flint Westfall Papers at

The late Pauline Kael wrote the definitive review of the fraudulent Roger & Me.

Her scathing dissection of that film's inherent flaws-the most prominent of which was its reliance on doctored footage-will stand out in relief for future reference, when new film historians examine how the discredited Mr. Moore was able to manipulate a large subsection of the American filmgoing public.

Moore can make picayune criticisms of Paul Berman all he wants-and I'll be the first to admit that some of Berman's obnoxiously leftist, doctrinaire political opinions rub me the wrong way-but that will not detract from Mr. Berman's reputation as either a scholar or a writer.

If nothing else, the man is a true intellect, unlike the vagabond who issues denunciations of him from the safety of his dacha on Lake Michigan.
