First of all, careful about the remarks there bub.
I am from Cherokee County, right next door to YOUR home county. I looked at your profile, and I saw the Cali flag.....
George Pickett stayed where he was supposed to stay, because Corp Commanders were ORDERED by Lee to stay to the rear!
What real man WOULDN'T weep, when he saw thousands of his own men being slaughtered!?

First of all,be careful about the remarks there bub. I suggest that you sit and reread your opening statement on your post#41. Read it two or three times. Your distainful remarks about people who don't Live in the Lone Star State is one thing. But as a self proclaimed Texconfederate you shoud surly know that General Pickett was never a Corps Commander at any time during the war. He was a Division Commander under Longstreet. And as such he should have been with his troops as they advanced on the Union center. IMHO, There was a dimes worth of difference between George E.Pickett and George A. Custer. To quote Forrest Gump;" That's all I have to say about." that.

Well, you are correct, it was early, what can I say. Nevertheless, Pickett behaved properly. And I don't think highly of California, having lived there for two years. But honestly, the fruits & nuts thing was meant to be more tongue-in-cheek than you took it.

By all reputable accounts Pickett acquitted himself well at Gettysburg.
The Shadbake, however, may be another story.
Though I wouldn't chalk that one up to cowardice so much as reckless indifference.
