In those rare moments where I’m actually embarrassed, I have a standard quip that eases the burden: “I’m used to being embarrassed. I’m a black conservative.”

Never heard of this guy. Is he really conservative, or does he just call himself conservative because he actually kind of disagrees with Ted Kennedy on a couple of minor points? He writes like a liberal.

He's one of the good guys. He is a regular columnist for The Baltimore Sun and I often agree with his points of view. He's big on personal responsibility, which is a rare stance indeed in Baltimore.

The fact that the writer didn't mention that it was Democrat govenors who returned the confederate flag to prominence is a good indication that the man is not a conservative.

More reason to blush. The blow-dried wonder had this exchange with the BBC's Bob McKeown in Canada:

Coulter: "Canada used to be one of our most loyal friends and vice-versa. I mean Canada sent troops to Vietnam - was Vietnam less containable and more of a threat than Saddam Hussein?"

McKeown interrupts: "Canada didn't send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter: "I don't think that's right."

McKeown: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam."

Coulter (looking desperate): "Indochina?"

McKeown: "Uh no. Canada ...second World War of course. Korea. Yes. Vietnam No."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, took a pass on Vietnam."

Coulter: "I think you're wrong."

McKeown: "No, Australia was there, not Canada."

Coulter: "I think Canada sent troops."

McKeown: "No."

Coulter: "Well. I'll get back to you on that."

McKeown tags out in script:

"Coulter never got back to us -- but for the record, like Iraq, Canada sent no troops to Vietnam."

Yeesh.
