Nonsense.
One must stand up for what one believes.
If we all had that thought...then there would be abortion on demand...homosexuality taught in our schools......latchkey children.....no prayers allowed anywhere....open borders......
OOOOPS....it looks as if we have the big tent.
RE: "Nonsense.

Absolutely, but the problem with this statement is that many different Republicans believe in many different things on the social/religious front, and that the most common thread connecting the partys leaders is a belief in fiscal conservatism, individual liberty and responsibility, strong national defense, and a strong sense of American patriotism. What else does George W. Bush, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Owens, Tom Ridge, Condolezza Rice, Bob Dole, Tom Tancredo, Jesse Helms, etc. have in common but these basic financial/defense considerations?
I am an anti-abortion Republican, but there is room in the Republican party for pro-abortion candidates. I am a pro gay rights Republican, but there is room in the Republican party for people with religious, etc. objections to homosexuality. One of the major selling points for us is that we ARE a big tent party, with no social litmus test to ensure lockstep allegiance from our members on every issue of our hearts (such as in the all-extreme-left, all-the-time modern Democrat party, which has punished Joe Lieberman for his pro-Iraq war beliefs and punished the late Bob Casey for his pro-life beliefs).
