I see that you are an ex-Muslim. I'm glad that you could see clearly enough to get out. But don't make the mistake of thinking all religions are man made. One is not

ROFL!!!
Dude, you need to trade that crystal ball in on a new one.
I'm not an ex anything. I'm a Deist. My european ancestors were Deists who sailed to the new world to escape Christianity. It just runs in the family the same as Christianity runs in yours.

The Muslim prophet Mahomet was deified...Same as Jesus.
Just because I'm not Christian does not mean I haven't studied Christianity. I have read the Bible and the Quran and many other "Holy Books". I'd wager I know more about your religion than you. I'm not limited to the King James version of the Bible.

I am not anti Christian. I love Christmas and am not offended by displays of the Christ child and the wise men. I don't mind the ten commandments at the court house. I think In God We Trust is a great motto!

What does bother me is the zealot attitude that America is a Christian country founded by Christians and if you're not a Christian you're not a real American. Only 17% of Americans were Christian in 1776.

We are fighting a war against religious fanatics who want to destroy our Republic. It is a just war. To proclaim ourselves a Christian nation just turns our cause into another religious crusade.

"I'd wager I know more about your religion than you. I'm not limited to the King James version of the Bible."

I'd take that wager. I'm not limited to the King James version either. But I do know there are untrustworthy sources out there. And all manner of revisionist histories about the Jews and Christians. You need to be able to discern truth from fiction.

"Only 17% of Americans were Christian in 1776."

That's a rediculously low number and not believable. It's simply not credible that most of the nation's leadership was Christian and yet only 17% of people were Christian. It's not credible that there were state religions and yet this was tolerated despite the 87% of the people not being that religion.

I agree with you that you shouldn't be a second class citizen if you aren't Christian.

What does bother me is the zealot attitude that America is a Christian country founded by Christians and if you're not a Christian you're not a real American. Only 17% of Americans were Christian in 1776>>>> On my Mother's side of the family, her ancestors had all arrived in America by 1705. I follow my family's geneaology very closely and have impeccable records. All but 10 of 240 known family members and extended family were Christian. 9 were Deists, 1 undecided. Im related to 3 Signers.

One, Witherspoon was an ordained minister and started Princeton Univ. Another Thomas Lynch Jr. and his father Thomas Lynch Sr. [who was originally was supposed to sign but became ill) were both devout men. They and I share the same common ancestor going back to Ireland. That relation wrote about many issues of the Catholic faith.

Another relation of mine Washington Allston, a painter, was deeply devout too.

To say that only 17% of Americans in 1776 were Christian is grossly misconstruing facts. 1776 population statistics: * Ninety-eight percent of the people in America profess themselves to be Protestant Christians; * 1.8 percent profess themselves to be Roman Catholic Christians; * .2 of 1 percent profess themselves to be Jewish. Note: That means that 99.8 percent of the people in America in 1776 professed themselves to be Christians.
