It really has nothing to do with pedophilia per se. There's no reason why someone who wants to be a priest or church leader has to remain celibate other then the teachings of the Catholic Church. The Bible doesn't teach that church leaders cannot be married. Paul makes qualifications for church leaders very clear in 1Timothy 3.
I'm sure a lot of young men would want to serve as priests but don't because of the celibacy thing and that's why there's a shortage of Catholic priests. Why should they have to give up a normal married life just to serve the Lord? Can't they serve and lead a normal life with a wife and family?
