Prayer vigil for the Iraqi elections
Vanity | JustaCowgirl

Posted on 01/26/2005 4:46:56 AM PST by JustaCowgirl

We invite and request your prayers every day this week for the Iraqi elections on Sunday. This is a pivotal event in World history, and a vitally important one for our country and administration as well. Please pray for the safety of all those, including our brave military, who are putting themselves at risk to make this election happen.

Pray for a huge turnout, and that Iraqi voters are kept safe from those who would intimidate and frighten in order to perpetuate their evil.

I feel absolutely certain that our President is praying about this event and for his brave soldiers daily. While he probably would not choose to call publicly for prayer, I feel that he would be overjoyed and strengthened to have Americans and people of faith all over the world join him in this.

Please pass this along to others that you know who would like to informally join us in this prayer vigil.

Lord, we ask for your protection over our troops in harm's way. Lord,they are in your care. We pray for their safe return. As they face monumental challenges and decisions each moment, may they be anchored by their faith, protected by your presence, and comforted in knowing that they are loved by you. Amen

Amen to your powerful prayer, Ros42. We welcome you and ask that you join us every day this week in praying for this momentous event.

Dear Lord,

You know the years of darkness and fear Iraq has gone through, the evil leadership, the abuse of power, the powerful stealing the food out of the mouth of children.

At this time, when freedom beckons for them, we ask if it is your will to look kindly on them, stay the hands of those who would steal it from them, bind the hands of those who would disrupt proceedings, guard and protect the poll workers, the voters, the candidates, the officials.

Hold them all close to you, Lord, so that they have a chance to live as free people and break the chains of hate thrust upon them.

In the name of Jesus,
Amen.

Amen, Conundrum. Thank you for that wonderful prayer. True words, indeed.

Let us pray fervently that the collective soul of goodness in the Iraqi people will finally rise up and reject once and for all this terrible evil to which they have been subjected.

Almighty Father of Your Children, we exalt Your holy name as we ask Your hand to guide our leaders. We especially pray for President Bush and his cabinet as they set about directing the course of our nation. We do believe we are "One Nation Under God," so Lord we pray that our leaders choose directions that would be pleasing to You.

We especially pray this week for the elections in Iraq, for they will provide the hope of freedom for the Iraqi people, and the beginning opportunity for our military forces to return home. We pray for the families of those military who have recently lost their lives; they are precious to us.

Finally, Lord, we pray for the soon finalization of our hunt for Osama bin Laden and of Musab al Zarqawi, for their murders are many and random, and an affront to Your justice.

We pray in the name of Jesus; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good Morning all.

Praying for peace and courage as the Military and the contractors go about their jobs bringing freedom to the Iraqi people. May they be successful in their duties, Lord.

I ask You Father to allow us to be aware of Your Presense as we watch this election take place thousands of miles from us.

Make the enemy turn against themselves. Reveal who these people are, and let them discovered as they hide from our Military.........
but they can't hide from You Father.
For You are everywhere!

This is important in the scheme of things, to us Lord.
But to You, it is only a part of Your plan for the world.

Thank You Lord for our President. May he be Light, to the darkness of liberalism in Washington, DC. He is Your man for the hour.
And we thank You for that!

Thank You Father, in Jesus Name, Amen

Heavenly Father - because of many of your children from our great Nation which was founded upon Christian principles that glorify You, the Iraqi people are preparing to throw off the evil yoke of slavery and to elect a government. Father, I pray that You pour out Your Love and Grace upon all involved and that You would deign to make their way easier, while putting up as many obstacles as possible to the minions of the Evil One. Whatever occurs, I pray that Your Divine Will is done and that You are glorified because of it. In the name of Your Son and our Saviour, I raise my prayer for Your consideration. Father, I thank You and praise You for hearing my prayer and for whatever You decide to do in this matter. Amen

God Bless and protect the innocent citizens of Iraq, the troops and security forces of all nationalities who are laying their lives before great danger to give Iraq a chance to evolve into democracy, and especially God Bless President Bush, for openly daring to BELIEVE that righteousness can and will prevail.

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust."

Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with His feathers,
and under His wings you will find refuge;
His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you make the Most High your dwelling --
even the LORD, who is my refuge --
then no harm will befall you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread upon the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

"Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call upon me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life will I satisfy him
and show him my salvation."

A further reminder that good news is coming out of Iraq, and that the light is shining through the darkness.

Please continue to pray for the success and safety of all those involved in the Iraqi elections, and that hand of evil will be turned away.

On the same day that Abu Musab al Zarqawi, the terrorist mastermind in Iraq, declared holy war on democracy, six principal Iraqi leaders appeared in their nation's first televised electoral debate, broadcast live throughout Iraq by Alhurra television. The contrast between naked jihadism and democracy was never clearer. As the candidates took the stage, Zarqawi's dark dispatch from the underworld, and all the hate and threats it carried, disappeared — if only for a moment — under the klieg lights.
