Then I put myself in their shoes and wonder: When I am being played, cannot I see it so clearly?
The difference might be that I know no one's going to look out for me but me. No one has my better interests at heart like I do.
I cannot answer your question, save by supposing that those so affected were deliberately taught to be unable to see the strings.
Please bear in mind that I am discussing a fractional sub-demographic and attendant subculture, not American blacks in general.
