Not fair to blame the Europeans for this one. This lies squarely in the lap of FDR and his administration of communist sympathizers, who thwarted all of Churchill's attempts to get English and American troops into Eastern Europe before the Soviets. FDR handed Eastern Europe to Stalin all wrapped up with a shiny bow on the package.
I seem to remember that Ann Coulter (sorry no picture) wrote in one of her books that Harry Hopkins, FDR's special advisor and key go between him and Churchill, was actually a KGB spy! Can this be true?
But the Communist moles in the British secret service did not help in the slightest. Not to mention that Clement Atlee was elected, who did not have the strength and force of mind and vision that Churchill had.
"FDR handed Eastern Europe to Stalin all wrapped up with a shiny bow on the package." FDR on-the-wrong-side-of-history bump.
