You are right in some ways. Thirty years ago these things were considered tedious and no one wanted to do them. Today? I don't know. They make me feel I have a home that is mine. Tedious? Try those silly games our children play...technology is what you make of it. My life skills will sustain me. PS2 won't.
Well, to be sure, I by and large much enjoy putting things in order and tidying up myself: because I know it's done 'right' the way I want it. But I have no problem with automation to do the tasks I don't care to do myself: e.g., I sure wouldn't trade my dishwasher for washing in the sink.
That's really my only point. Technology is what you make of it. By example, I am adamantly against relying on a cell phone despite the slight inconvenience in modern times. Not owning one makes me happy!
