"Nothing stops anyone from doing all those things if they so choose. I never said anything about demeaning; they're just tedious for the most part. Technology is what you make of it.

You are right in some ways. Thirty years ago these things were considered tedious and no one wanted to do them. Today? I don't know. They make me feel I have a home that is mine. Tedious? Try those silly games our children play...technology is what you make of it. My life skills will sustain me. PS2 won't.

Well, to be sure, I by and large much enjoy putting things in order and tidying up myself: because I know it's done 'right' the way I want it. But I have no problem with automation to do the tasks I don't care to do myself: e.g., I sure wouldn't trade my dishwasher for washing in the sink.

That's really my only point. Technology is what you make of it. By example, I am adamantly against relying on a cell phone despite the slight inconvenience in modern times. Not owning one makes me happy!
