Of course they do, because it's a proxy for the culture war, and all the frustrations that we all feel (social conservatives v. liberals, libertarians v. social cons, etc).
At some level I think it's all meaningless anyway. Look at the Boomers, they were raised on the most wholesome patriarchial pro-family censorous mass media environment possible and look at how they turned out. The kids who watched "Leave It To Beaver" grew up to burn their draft cards, smoke dope and practice free love. The wrangling over the moral direction of youth is well overblown.
