It's not just Matthews. I remain amazed at how these people think so small. I believe the president's reference to fire was no accident. Fire spreads. Fire can provide light and warmth even to those at a distance.

What these people are missing is that the president intends to encourage the spark. He was speaking directly to the oppressed people in Iran, Iraq, North Korea, etc. He was saying "Rise up...and we will be with you". As one rises up (Ukraine) others will take heart and freedom will begin to stir in places we never imagined.

Don't these commentators remember the fall of the Berlin wall? The fire of freedom spread across borders and geographical barriers so quickly the oppressors couldn't resist it. Bush doesn't intend to "invade" Iran (Matthews/Mitchell). He means for the PEOPLE to take power for themselves. It won't be a straight line and it won't always work. And we MAY have to go to war again.

But these bluenoses are talking as though Bush is going to force all this to happen...and in his 4 years. Can they really be that stupid?

Some are that stupid, and some are deliberately spreading disinformation.

I'm with you, I loved the reference to the Fire of Freedom, and the inference of how it lights the dark corners of the world.

Now, had I been Trent Lott at the luncheon this afternoon, presenting the congressional gift of the Crystal Hurricane lamp shades to the President, I would have said......"Mr President, a gift to commemorate and house that Fire of Freedom that has been lit for the world today."

Ahh, the First Couple.....dancing to "Laura...but she's only a dream....."
