That wasn't just a staph infection, it was septicemia . . . staph septicemia is system-wide blood infection. Lesser men die from this condition. Lloyd was lucky to survive.

It is not unreasonable for Steelers management to doubt his ability to return to top form on a sustainable basis.

Not at all to a point (especially if they were up front with him) - However, they asked to him to battle back and come back as the team leader he was -

He then battled back all off season...to the point that the Steelers doctors cleared him....and then they cut him...

That is dirty pool....plain and simple.
